Friends of Charlton Kings

Friends of Charlton Kings is a local community group run by the community for the community.

In recent weeks our local community has become concerned that not all families who need assistance with food over the summer will qualify for the free school meal vouchers or meet the criteria set by the food banks.

Due to community fundraising and grant applications Friends of Charlton Kings are now in a position to provide packed lunches or food boxes to families in need which will be delivered by community volunteers. All food will be purchased from local cafés and small businesses or from the Co-op Supermarket.

Friends of Charlton Kings will also be offering a paid lunch service at £3.50 for those who would appreciate convenience of a packed lunch service and want to help to subsidise the free service for those who need it.

The beauty of the system is that everyone gets the same delicious lunch delivered to their door. If you can afford to pay then you are helping others. If your family needs assistance, free lunches are available for your children.

To request free lunches, to order paid lunches with free delivery or to get involved in volunteering for this community project please email friendsofcharltonkings@gmail.com. All enquiries will be treated confidentially and you will be called back by Sal Walker, Lauren Meek, Anna Macfadzean or Jane Shorting.

You can also see all of the information on the website here: https://friendsofcharltonkings.org/feeding-children/

The lunch delivery service will come into operation and run from Monday 20th July to Monday 31st August (inclusive). The lunch delivery service is available to families living within the Charlton Kings parish.

Friends of Charlton Kings is happy to take referrals directly as above or via schools and churches and so if you would prefer to talk to Revd. Graham Bowkett (Vicar) and for us to refer you to the Friends of Charlton Kings we are happy to do so. Please email us on vicarcharltonkings@gmail.com.
